Day 479-485
4 Days
January, 2007 |
We've lost about 3 weeks of progress by having to deal with more rotting
windows. We had to go to Tampa to pick up the warranty replacement
windows. Then the windows have to be painted and installed.
We've been working on smaller projects between coats of paint. |

Day 475-478
4 Days
January, 2007
Several little projects in the works including prepping the
downstairs for carpet installation. Brian is also having to work on
replacing a door sill that has rotten due to a small leak under the door.
The big news is that after a year of planning, designing,
and amateur engineering, we have completed the round railing for the
upstairs rotunda. This project was a bane to motivation as it just
would not complete itself. As a free-standing guard rail, this was
the most complicated and stressful part of the house to get right.
While it does deviate from the architect's design, it will
pass code and keep most everyone from falling through the hole in the
floor. It took several days and steps to finish and assemble (thanks
for the help Josh) due to internal structuring and painting. We are
very happy this project is off the To-Do List. |

Day 474

We are installing the cabinets, shelves,
rods and baseboard trim for the master closet.
We brought in some clothes on hangers to make sure
everything fits just right. |
|
|
|
We have completed the master closet with
shelves and hanging rods. We have also installed display hooks
on the open wall. |

Day 473
January 5, 2007

and cabinets for the master closet. |

Day 472
December 30, 2006
José is finishing the upstairs rotunda.
It is a pain in the ass carpeting a small round room with a big hole in
the middle of the floor. |
|
|
|
Carpeting is complete in for these areas.
We still have to put down carpet in the living room/dining room,
downstairs hallway, and rotunda. |

Day 471
December 29, 2006
Carpet pad and carpet is being installed.
The carpet is covering the upstairs bedrooms, rotunda and hallway as well
as the multi-purpose room downstairs. |
|
|
|
Installer James is wondering as he
carpets the small guest room if any company will really want to stay
overnight during their visit here. |
|
|
|
The carpet and pad being cut and placed
in the multi-purpose room. |

Day 470
December 28, 2006 |
Daniel is prepping the floors for carpet installation that begins
tomorrow. Brian is gone on vacation so Daniel is left to clean the
floors, take down the doors, and fill/sand any uneven areas of the
floor.

Day 466-468
3 Days
November, 2006 |
Brian is working on the railing for the second floor rotunda. He has
been working on sanding, filling, priming and painting the top and bottom
sections of the railing. He has learned a new skill working with
automotive bonding to fill any minor imperfections on the railing
supports. The supports have been sent out to an auto body shop for a
high-gloss paint finish. |

Day 465
November 07, 2006
The bar area is ready for the installation of the top and side panel.
The installer is supposed to be here between 9am and 11am. At 2pm, I
call to find out where our bar top is. An hour later, the bar top is
delivered but it has been fabricated backwards even after we provided
scale drawings and someone from the fabricator came out and took their own
measurements. So, now we have to wait for another top to be made. |
|
|
|
Since we don't have a place for our cocktail glasses, we decide it is time
to fill the hot tub (since the one at the current residence has finally
crapped out even though we've kept it on life support for longer than it
should have lasted hoping against hope we would have completed
construction by now). We can't wait for the inaugural tubbing. |
|
|
|
Oct 9 - Oct 10 |
NOTE: We passed the inspection for "pre-power" and the next day,
Progress Energy gave us the juice! Now we can run the air
conditioners and the even the hot tub. |
|
|
|
|
October 05, 2006 |
NOTE: We have passed the final inspections for electrical and low
voltage. We can now apply for "pre-power" so we can power the whole
house and run the air conditioner. |

Day 464

The A/C contractor is here for the final charge-up and wiring of the
system. We have air conditioning! Now we just have to schedule and
pass the electrical system final inspection. |

Day 463
October 02, 2006 |
The electricians have replaced the weak transformer and they are done with
all the electrical items. Now the lights in the rotunda niches are
working correctly. |

Day 462
October 01, 2006 |
We are installing more of the hand railing for the stairs in the house. |

Day 461

rotunda. Daniel is back at the sewing machine making the screens to
mount to the frames.

guest closet. |
