Watch our progress while we build |
Construction Day 270 August 18, 2004 We are installing the cabinets in the Master Bath. Fortunately, Brian had just finished the cabinet installation before he had to be taken to the emergency room. |
Construction Day 269 August 17, 2004 We completed the installation of the glass blocks for the shower stall this morning. The Corian installer has returned and the final pieces of the shower stall are being assembled and put in place. It looks great!! |
De-Construction Friday the 13th August 13, 2004 Here comes and goes Hurricane Charley. The house withstood 100+ mph winds. There were only two small leaks which did not appear during all the other storms we have weathered, but with this amount of wind and rain, some of it found its way into the house. We have already patched one leak and are tracking down the other. |
We were without power for over 24 hours. There are large limbs down all over the property but no trees were blown over. Our street was blocked for days with at least 6 trees that had blown down and blocked access into the neighborhood. The Port-O-Potty didn't take the wind very well. |
Construction Day 268 August 10, 2004 The crew is back working on installing some of the trim and the bench for the Master shower stall. |
Construction Day 266 & 267 August 5 & 7, 2004 It de-construction and re-construction, now. Brian is working on "fixing" the tile backing that was not properly installed by the drywall guys. It was a material that they were unfamiliar with even though they said they could install it. The original installer kept saying he would come back and fix it, but we are tired of waiting. |
Construction Day 265 August 04, 2004 We have cleaned up the kitchen, again, and it is looking great with all the cabinets in place. Next is trim for the kitchen. |
The Corian installers have returned and are routing out the shelves and glass block window in the shower stall. |
Construction Day 264 August 03, 2004 The fabrication and installation of the Master Bath shower stall continues. The pan is set and the walls are being cut, buttered, and put in place. A real cabinet installer arrived today to correct and complete the installation of the kitchen cabinets. |

Construction Day 263 August 02, 2004 The 8' double closet doors for the front entryway have finally arrived and been installed. The replacement kitchen cabinet also finally arrived, but the "installer" from the cabinet company did not know enough about installing cabinets and we sent him packing. |
Construction Day 262 July 29, 2004 The custom, Corian shower pan for the Master Bath is being installed. It is being fitted today and next week it will be adhered into place along with the walls. The pan measures 39" x 83" |
Construction Day 261 July 21, 2004 Brian is installing the vanity cabinets in the front bathroom. |
The vanity cabinets in this bath are ready for the Corian fabricators to create the template for the countertop. |
