Watch our progress while we build |
Happy 4th of July: We took the day off from construction, BUT we were up on our new roof at night and able to watch at least 10 different fireworks displays.
Construction Day 120 July 3 |
We marking out a few of the patio areas that have to be poured before the stucco is complete. We will pour patios for the front porch, side patio with steps, and the rear patio.
The framers are completing everything left on their punch list. |
Construction Day 119 July 2 |
We are re-installing correctly the second floor deck frame. Brian is still running cables and Dan is still sweeping and cleaning. |
De-Construction Day 118 July 1
We have started taking down the framing for the second floor deck. What had been installed was not laid out correctly nor was it properly put together. It's a hassle, but we have decided to do the deck ourselves and make it just the way we want. |
|
Construction Day 117 June 30 |
Dan continues to clean up the dust and dirt while Brian is still running cables for phone, TV, internet, phone, security camera, etc. |
Construction Day 116 June 28 |
The framers showed up for a short time to finish the soffit on the house and garage. We are continuing to clean inside and preparing to take down the outside deck and redesign it. |
Construction Day 115 June 27
The second floor door on the garage has been installed.
We are getting quotes from deck builders for the second floor deck on the house. We are not pleased with how the framers have been doing it. We are also working to sweep and clean up the house and garage in preparation for the insulation installation. |
|
Construction Day 114 June 26
Wow... the framers, electricians, roofers, and stucco crew all showed up today. Now, this is progress.
We passed the framing inspection. Now, we can schedule the insulation installation.
We also have a lot of sweeping and cleaning to start now that the framing and other trades are finished inside. |
|
Construction Day 113 June 25
The stucco crew is working on installing the lath for the banding around the windows. We installed a custom copper ridge cap over the breakfast nook area.
The re-inspection for framing is scheduled for tomorrow. |
|
We are still working on the skylight and have installed the copper flashing on the oculous. |
|
Here is the view up and out of the oculus before we place the skylight. |
|
Construction Day 112 June 24 |
It has been raining all day every day for about a week. Today, the framers finally returned to make the corrections so we can pass the framing inspection. Brian is still running speaker wire, network cable, and coaxial cable throughout the house.
|
NOTE 6/19/03: The inspector only gave a partial pass to the framing inspection on the house and garage. The framers have to go a lot more work to pass. It is raining everyday and that is preventing the stucco crew from getting any work done. Scheduling is really tough because so many things at this point are dependant on more than one trade.
Construction Day 111 June 16
The framers have returned to implement yet another repair to the trusses as the truss manufacturer continues to try and cover their asses. The framers also have prepared the framing around the hole in the second floor below the skylight. The picture shows the view from the first floor up to the ceiling.
We passed the window and door inspection.
|
|
We are still working on the installation of the skylight on the oculus. We are checking the size of the custom, copper flashing ring that will sit on top of the oculus and below the skylight. We will also be ordering a copper drum to wrap the entire oculus above the roof. |
