8 Days

Sept., 2006

Plenty of progress happening.

Brian has completed the eight box units that will be shelves in the rotunda.  He has installed the final door hardware on the front door.  He is also unfortunately back to repairing windows that are rotting away.  The manufacturer says they will be covered under warranty, but it will still take months to get the replacement windows made and installed. He is cleaning the garage in preparation for the electrical final inspection.

Day 449

Brian is almost finished with the built-in rotunda display cabinets.  While working on them, Brian uncovers Daniel's plan to hang Brian in the walls and brick him in.

Daniel is painting and painting.  He took the front door down to paint the inside of the door.  He is painting the shelving units for the rotunda.

443-448

 6 Days

August, 2006

We are working hard on such damn detail work.  What a pain in the ass.

Brian is working on installing closet doors and then trimming them out.  He is also working on building the shelving niches in the rotunda. In his free time, Brian is installing curtain rods so we can begin to cover windows and block the sun so carpet can be installed.

Daniel, in the meantime, is masking, masking, masking and priming, painting, and painting.  He is also still moving the truckload of sand to the various areas that need a little fill.  In the spare time, Daniel is sewing curtains for the windows.

Day 442

Construction

Day 441

August 10, 2006

While Brian had the front door down to fabricate the trim for it, Daniel finally RE-painted the front door a different shade of red.  We both worked on a bit more painting of the trim for the windows in the garage, too.

Day 440

August 8, 2006

The electricians return to finish everything for the inspection.  The hot tub is electrified and only needs water.  The doorbell rings.  And the lights are installed in the garage.

August 7, 2006

NOTE:  The day before the electricians return for trim out and to finalize everything, Brian discovers the cause of short-circuiting in the second bedroom.  Apparently, we both missed it when the drywall crew covered over an electrical outlet.  Brian cut the drywall and freed the outlet.  No more problem with shorts.

Construction

Day 435

July 22, 2006

Brian is starting to work on the rotunda display shelves because we need the top section in place for the electrician to complete the low voltage lighting system.  Each shelf unit has to be custom created and it is very time consuming.

Daniel is finishing up with the painting of interior doors and most of the trim around the doors.  I am also wondering if there will ever be pictures of the progress posted?

Construction

Day 434

July 21, 2006

Daniel is moving sand and cooling down by painting interior doors.  Brian is working on several different projects including prepping to install a replacement window that was delivered under a warranty issue.

Construction

Day 433

July 20, 2006

Daniel is shoveling and moving sand in unbearable heat.  Brian is trimming out the closet doors upstairs.  In preparation for putting down carpet, we are also installing some curtain hardware and curtains upstairs to cut down on the sun coming in and fading everything.

Construction

Day 432

July 19, 2006

We received another dump truck load of sand to begin filling in some low areas of the yard.  While Daniel is shoveling and barrowing, Brian is working on completing the baseboard cutting and mounting in the house.  The baseboard will still need to be puttied and sanded and painted (second coat).

Construction

Day 431
