Watch our progress while we build |
Construction Day 130 July 19 The columns are the last to get stucco, but the effect is amazing. The house looks fantastic. Unfortunately, the stucco crew did some [minor?] damage to the windows that we did not discover until almost all of the windows were damaged. |
Construction Day 129 July 18 |
The stucco on the house is complete and the garage should be finished today. The crew will start the stucco of the front columns today. |
Construction Day 128 July 17 The stucco is almost complete on the house and the crew is moving on to the garage. |
We are still working out details before insulation can be installed. The solar water heater is being delivered so we can determine how much space is left in the utility closet to fit the addition of a dehumidifier. This addition for the HVAC system is going to be necessary to meet the "fresh air" code requirements since the insulation will make the house very air-tight with no ventilation through the roof. |
Construction Day 127 July 16 An even larger stucco crew showed up today for work. Maybe word got out that we bought lunch for the crew yesterday. |
Construction Day 126 July 15 Milestone Day: The application of the stucco has begun! We also received the first delivery of insulation. |
The first coat of stucco really changes the look of the exterior. |
Construction Day 125 July 14 The scaffolding for the stucco crew has been delivered and is being set up. The insulation installers showed up this morning but had to be turned away because we still don't have approval from the County for the insulation change. We are waiting on the Engineer to sign off and to receive the new energy calculations. |
Construction Day 124 July 12
Daniel is painting the door frames to seal them and to get on the first coat of color. |
Brian is still running cables. Now, he is working on running speaker wire outside for exterior speakers. Here he is in the rafters above the 13' ceiling. |
Construction Day 123 July 11
The framers are here for hopefully their last day. All the faming issues should be complete. The stucco crew is still installing the lath in preparation for the first stucco coat. We are dealing with issues between the County Building Department and the insulation company. |
Construction Day 122 July 7 |
The electrician has returned to finish working on the garage.
We are working on grading and elevations around the house and garage so the stucco crew can run the lath to the correct height. We are also marking out the sizes and locations of exterior steps and patios. |
Construction Day 121 July 6
In the heat and blazing sun, we are up on the roof working on adding more copper detail to the oculus. We had to get this part finished so the stucco crew could lath the rest of the oculus since the stucco will go down to the roof line.
We are also continuing to work on the second floor deck. |
Brian is still installing the electrical outlet for the top of the oculus. We will be able to different colored lights shining in and out of the skylight at night. |
