April 20, 2004

The installation of the kitchen cabinets continues.  One of the upper cabinets is the wrong width and a correct width will be ordered.  Still, it allows the countertop company to come and take their measurements.

The cabinets are looking great and the crown molding and down-light molding really make a difference.

April 19, 2004

The installer estimates two days to complete installation of the kitchen cabinets.  But, the cabinets are going in!!

The installer made good progress today and most of the cabinets are up.

Brian is very pleased with getting all the cables in his media closet organized.  He even installed computer network access (so Dan can bid on eBay during construction).  Brian has all eight speakers working in the upstairs and downstairs rotundas so there is music throughout the house.  Plus, Brian installed phone service.  Now, we can't use the excuse of "we were on the construction site and missed your call."

We have moved all the kitchen cabinets to the new house and have them lined up for installation on Monday.

We ordered the flooring for the Master Bathroom, and we have selected the wood flooring for the bar and entryway.

April 14, 2004

Thanks to Jeff's expertise, the kitchen floor is finished and looks great.

The kitchen cabinets and island will be installed Monday, and the range for the island will be delivered Wednesday.

During the rest of the day, Brian is working in the media closet on installing his distribution box and organizing all his cables.  Daniel is busy scrubbing the upstairs floor to get it ready for carpet.

We have started installing the floor for the kitchen.  We have made this a priority because we have to get the kitchen cabinets installed before the cabinet company goes out of business.

Jeff is helping... OK, we are helping Jeff install the flooring.

We are also cleaning up the wall texture overspray from the recessed light (next time we will mask them even after being told clean-up is "easy").  While he is at the ceiling Brian is installing the trim for the recessed lights.

We are prepping the kitchen floor and cleaning the 2nd floor floors so we can get some floor covering installed.

Brian is back to working on the second floor deck and had completed installing the major cross supports.  Dan is cleaning in the house getting the kitchen floor ready for covering.

We applied the first coat of color in the master bath and hope to complete the second coat before dark and after the paint has had a little time to dry.

Brian is painting more of the deck board before adding them to the framework.

Brian is spending time working on the second floor deck while Dan is cleaning up from all the painting and prepping the master bath for paint.

We have completed painting the rotundas, the wall at the landing, under the stairs, the entryway closets, and the master bath hallway.  It was good day of painting.

The picture shows the windows in the stairwell.  The windows have been covered with plastic sheeting for so long we really enjoy being able to see them.

We are already making use of the storage under the stairs.
