The Dream is almost a reality. |

Watch our progress while we build |

Construction Day 360 August 31, 2005 Brian has completed the puttying and sanding of the other half of the garage floor upstairs. The primer and first coat of color is already down. The floor paint has an extended drying time (especially because of the humidity) so we are trying to work on some other smaller project rather than just watching the paint dry. |
Construction Day 359 August 27, 2005 We have the first coat of color down and have begun the second coat. Unfortunately because of Hurricane Katrina, Adam had to return home a day early so he missed out on a day of work. He'll have to perform a make up day and work it off in the future.
Construction Day 358 August 23, 2005 We have started priming the wood floor in the garage. Fortunately, we have some help as Adam is visiting and needed to be put to work. We didn't want him to completely relax during his vacation.
We were only slightly concerned that Adam might paint himself into a corner, but since we weren't paying him by the hour, we figured he could just sit there until the floor was dry enough to cross. |
Construction Day 357 August 17, 2005 We have completed laying the the flooring for the upstairs of the garage. Now, Brian is puttying and filling the seams so we can sand it smooth before priming (again) and painting. Hopefully, we should have some cheap labor to help with the sanding and painting. |
Construction Day 356 August 12, 2005 |
After Brian's vacation to West Virginia and a load of company, we are back to work. We have primed the other half of the floor and all the acoustic barrier is installed. |
Construction Day 355 July 31, 2005 About half the floor upstairs in the garage is installed. After we move everything from one side of the room to the other, we can get back to work.
Construction Day 354 July 30, 2005 We are working on second floor of the garage. First we are sanding and leveling the floor. Then we are priming the plywood underlayment to seal it, and then we will be installing an acoustic barrier with a sanded plywood finish layer. |
Construction Day 353 July 29, 2005 We have completed installing another section of the bamboo flooring. |
Construction Day 352 July 27, 2005 Brian has cut and laid out the next section of wood floor. Next step is to glue it into place. Daniel has finally finished cleaning the floor upstairs in the garage. Now we can prime the bare wood, install the acoustic barrier and lay the sanded plywood for the finished floor. |
Construction Day 351 July 26, 2005 After a great vacation to Disneyland for the 50th Anniversary, and Brian's trip to Alabama, we are back and not too excited to be working in this scorching heat. Brian has laid and installed the first section of the bamboo flooring in the bar. This section needed to be in first so the bar equipment could be installed before the plumber returns. |
We also built a work bench for the wood shop (above the garage). We needed a place to put the drill press so we can begin work on the deck posts. |
