Construction Day 260 July 20, 2004 Jeff is back and is installing the vinyl flooring in the upstairs bathrooms.
The floor for the Master Bath is complete. The small closet next to the bath also received a vinyl floor. The custom Corian shower pan should be installed next week. |
Working late into the the night Jeff finishes the final bathroom, the laundry room, and the linen closet. |
The floor is finished in the 2nd upstairs bath and now we can move forward with the cabinets. We are still waiting on the custom tile for the tub surround. |
Construction Day 259 July 10, 2004 The electricians are here working on trimming out the outlets and switches inside the house. Brian completed another section of his landscape wall so we can grade around it. |
Construction Day 258 July 6, 2004 We are still working outside on grading. We have extended a landscaping wall next to the garage and moving a truckload of sand. |
Construction Day 257 June 29, 2004 We are back to working on the grading and drainage of the far side of the house. We have selected a new company to fabricate the Corian shower for the Master Bathroom. They will be out Thursday to make the template. |
Construction Day 256 June 26, 2004 We are working on several small projects around the house. Brian is sanding and shaping the countertop for the downstairs bathroom so it will have a great custom fit from a pre-fab, solid-surface countertop and integrated sink. We are still working on prepping the floors for covering. The floor in the upstairs bathrooms are ready for installation. We have also finished scrubbing the rest of the floors to remove the excess plaster and mud from the drywall and texture installation. |
We have picked up the floor covering for the two bathrooms upstairs. |
We also picked up the bamboo wood flooring for the entryway and the bar. |

De-Construction
June, 2004 We have lost another tree due to construction nearby. Unfortunately, this one is 50'+ high with thick, heavy limbs that could really do some damage. Brian starts off by climbing 40' up and taking off most of the large branches.
Then just as the sun is setting, Jeff comes over to help us cut down the remains of the tree. Jeff cuts while Daniel & Brian pull on a rope attached around the top of the tee. It was a little nerve wrecking since the tree was only 20' from the new garage. After a lot of strained muscles and almost an hour, the tree was safely down right where we planned it. |
The garbage men are pissed at us for how much yard trash we have been putting at the curb. We are left with the thickest part of the tree and the truck to dispose of. |
Construction Day 255 June 19, 2004 We are installing some outside drainage pipes to help reduce the erosion until we get sod in place. The grates will stay in place after sod is installed to catch runoff in areas where we are not installing gutters. |
Construction Day 254 June 9, 2004 We installed the vanity cabinet for the downstairs bath. Brian is still working on the second floor deck. Daniel is prepping the front bathroom for floor covering.
Construction Day 253 June 2, 2004 The painting is complete for the downstairs bathroom. We call the color, "Wow! That's white!" Thanks to a neighborly kind of guy, the flooring for this bathroom is installed, too. Tile for the shower stall is schedule to be installed next week. |
The plan for this bathroom is just black & white. |
NOTE 06/01/04: We picked up some of the interior doors for the 1st floor, and we ordered the double 8' doors for the entryway closets. Also, we are picking up more tile and getting more tile installation quotes. We are also trying to find a new builder's risk insurance policy. | |
Construction Day 252 May 31, 2004 We finished the first coat of paint on the first floor bathroom. Brian is working on various projects that complete a lot of little details so we can keep moving forward. We also picked up the wood flooring for the bar and entryway. We found a little time to enjoy some fun on the lake and took a picture to show the view from the water. |
Construction Day 251 May 26, 2004 Brian continues to work on the second floor deck. It is a project that fills in when we are not working on anything else. |
