Day 230

April 03, 2004

Not a lot of progress today, but it is very, very visible progress.  We applied the first coat of color to both rotundas.  Wow, that's some color.

Day 229

March 29, 2004

Still working on painting.  We completed the multi-purpose room and the breakfast nook.  The rotundas are ready for their first coat tomorrow.

We also began the first quote for interior doors.

March 27, 2004

We took the day off to play, but ended up in the news, anyway.

Day 228

March 26, 2004

A good day of painting — three colors.

The oculus and the hot tub skylight are complete.  The multi-purpose room has a first coat, the mechanical closet is complete, and the breakfast nook has a first coat.

Day 227

March 24, 2004

The paint sprayer is fixed and we were able to complete the painting of the kitchen.

Brian climbed into the oculus to prime and first coat it.

We also ordered the floor covering for the kitchen and the upstairs.

Day 226

March 22, 2004

We are finished with the painting of the largest room.  Hopefully the picture will accurately show some of the colors.

We managed to get the first coat of paint on the walls in the kitchen before the paint sprayer broke.  So, we get a day off while we wait for a warranty repair.

Day 225

March 20, 2004

Still painting... the bar area is complete as are the coffered ceilings.  The lake view room has the first coat up to 13' high.

Day 224

March 19, 2004

Is it a good idea to let someone who is mildly anal-retentive do the masking?  Maybe not, but Daniel spent the day on the scaffolding masking the 13' ceiling before he started painting the coffered section.  Brian is cleaning up the excess drywall mud from the base of the walls in preparation for more painting.

Day 223

March 18, 2004

Another day of painting and we are moving along.  The stairwell walls are complete, the bar had a first coat, the 18' ceiling area is complete, and all the other rooms are masked, swept and ready for paint.  Another trip to Home Depot and we have picked up the paints for the kitchen, rotunda, and the multi-purpose room.

Day 222

March 17, 2004

We have applied the first coat of color to the walls in the stairwell, the entryway, the storage closets, and the 18' ceiling area.  We are ordering the floor covering for the kitchen, storage rooms, and the second floor.

Days

220 & 221

March 6 & 7, 2004

Most of the second floor walls have their first and second coat of color.  We are also still working on finishing masking the ceiling on the first floor so we can begin painting those walls.  The colors look great but do not seem to show up well in photos.  Tomorrow, we are ordering the last two bathroom cabinets and picking up the tile for the downstairs shower and more tile for the tub upstairs.  We are also finalizing floor covering.
