Day 289
January 24, 2005
The Tile Man cometh, and the Tile Man
goeth away. The Tile Man returneth, and the Tile Man leaveth again.
In the meantime, we are dismantling the
ceiling in the hot tub room in order to put a layer of plywood up.
This will better strengthen the ceiling for the weight of the tile.
No sign of the Tile Man coming back so we
will have to wait until tomorrow to see if anyone shows up. |

Day 288
January 17, 2005
|
The glass company was out to give a quote
on the custom shower stall enclosure and the sliding glass panels for the
hot tub room.
We are prepping the hot tub room for tile
installation. We are adding a little additional insulation to the
interior wall, and we are carving out the drain in the floor. Also,
we are priming, puttying, filling, sanding, and painting the hot tub room
window so it is ready for the tile installation. The tile installer
was supposed to be here today.
Brian is practicing and learning how to
install the baseboard trim.

January 10, 2005
The electrician has returned to get more
work completed. He is working on the security lights, electrical
outlets, range outlet, deck lights and low-voltage lighting.
Brian is working on detailing the
downstairs shower stall in preparation for the tile installer who called
to say he is behind schedule. Brian also is resealing the security
lights, and finishing some of the interior light fixtures.

|
Daniel is working on getting quotes for
stairs, handrails, and his pet project the guardrail for around the
opening in the floor on the 2nd level of the rotunda. The idea is to
have something custom made that looks like the picture at the right (which
happens to be the railing in Mr. Graves' personal residence).
We are both making trips to try and find
carpeting for the downstairs great room. That is the only selection
left to be made. |

Day 285
December 27, 2004
Progress, thy name is Paul.
Our friend Paul made his annual
pilgrimage to provide a day of labor toward our little construction
project. Thank goodness. Because of Paul's help, the framing
for the second floor deck is complete.

|
|
|
Paul enjoyed playing with a different
tool as he earned a skill badge in Palm Nailer Skill.
Brian and Paul also worked on
re-installing the tile backer boards in the downstairs shower stall.

the under-the-stairs storage and the downstairs bathroom.
Brian is also working on several miscellaneous projects
including a bit of the second floor deck, grading in the backyard, and
re-installing the shower walls downstairs.
