The interior footers are dug and we are waiting on the electrician to install the chases.

Day 39

October 29

We received only a partial pass on our plumbing inspection.  The inspector says my pipe needs to be bigger.  I tried to explain that size shouldn't matter, but some people are obsessed with size.  So, I'll work on my pipe in the morning and see if I can impress the inspector.  [update 10/30:  Plumbing passed inspection]

The garage footers are being dug and will be ready for inspection tomorrow.

Day 38

October 28

After 5 days of being told they would be here "tomorrow," the plumbers have finally arrived.  We are pleased with the job they are doing so far.

The footers for the garage will be dug tomorrow.

Days 35 - 37

October 15, 16, & 18

Shovel, compact, and repeat.  We are still filling and compacting the stem wall.

Three more truckloads of sand delivered on the 18th.  The stem wall is filled!!!

Now, we are working on the grading on three sides of the house.  The garage pad is

ready for the footers to be dug.  We are also raising the elevation of the driveway.

The house pad is ready for the rough-in plumbing followed by the termite treatment.

Days 32 - 34

October 7, 9 & 14

Still backfilling the stem wall with another four truckloads of sand delivered on the 14th.  We've also started "raising" the garage level ten inches.  We are enjoying working for a few hours after sunset when the temperature is cooler.  We already have two of today's four truckloads distributed.

Day 31

October 4

We begin backfilling the stem wall with four truckloads of sand.  We are doing this part ourselves so there is a lot of shoveling and sweating.  All that sand fills the stem wall just the first eight inches.

To compact the sand, we made our first capital expenditure and bought a vibrating plate compactor.  While we are compacting, we are waiting on the next four truckloads of sand.
