UPSTAIRS PLAN
Bathrooms are brightened by generous windows. For privacy, Graves prefers wooden shutters to curtains or frosted glass--they add a stronger design element, he feels. For flooring, he suggests ceramic tiles. The master bath has two basins and a separate toilet area.

Putting the washer and dryer in a room on the second floor saves toting laundry up and down stairs. Closing the door keeps dirty clothes out of sight; the closet across the hall means sheets and towels can be put away as soon as they're clean.
