UPSTAIRS PLAN
Putting the washer and dryer in a room on the second floor saves toting
laundry up and down stairs. Closing the door keeps dirty clothes out of
sight; the closet across the hall means sheets and towels can be put
away as soon as they're clean.
Bathrooms are brightened by generous windows. For privacy,
Graves prefers wooden shutters to curtains or frosted glass--they add a
stronger design element, he feels. For flooring, he suggests ceramic
tiles. The master bath has two basins and a separate toilet area.
